Timex watch How do you put the back of a timex watch back on after you replaced the battery?

Q&A–: How do you put the back of a timex watch back on after you replaced the battery?
I tried to get it to go back on and nothing but resistance! What am I doing wrong?
It popped off to come apart. It was not a screw type base.

Make sure it is keyed right if there is a dimple on the back where the dial should go. If not use a little bit of force. If it breaks, it’s just a Timex.

Not all timex watches are made the same. There is a good chance that it is a threaded back, try screwing it on, be carefull not the cross thread. If that doesnt help and there are no threads then most likely it just pops in.

There is probably a small cut-out to fit around the wind stem. Make sure that lines up and then give it a good squeeze. If you can’t do it in your hands place it on something soft like a towel or cloth so you don’t damage the face and press down on it.
If all else fails, jewelers have what looks like a small press or vice that works really well. They may not be too keen on just putting the back on for you but they may let you try.

Timex watch –: I recently got a Timex watch and the manual is not online- can someone help?
the watch was a hand-me down, and the manual is not available online- at least not for this model. It is a 1404 Sports watch and has two buttons on each side. I would like to know how to set it and what it is capable of- i.e., can I set it to beep every 5 and then 1 min., to keep track of my speed intervals when running?
