    Thank you for stopping by and checking out my vid. In regards to your question on SLD005P, i believe it is an old Seiko watch but still rare to find. it was selling for $400 long time ago and if a real collector wants it then you might be able to sell for alittle bit more due it being very limited.

    I buy a Seiko over a Rolex anyday. Overpriced piece of Swiss garbage, with lousy customer service to booth.

  19. foxgloves321 says:

    @jradetzky
    I’d hardly call seiko’s stuff garbage, they’re fine watches in their price range, which happens to be below $400.

  20. jradetzky says:

    @foxgloves321 that’s why the Japanese only sell it in Japan. They always keep the top products to themselves and sell the garbage to the world

  21. Kyoretsu85 says:

    @foxgloves321 That may be true for the affordable Seiko line but after having been an active member of several watch forums over the years, I can tell you that the Grand Seiko line definitely holds its value in line with its competitors. I was hoping I could snag one really cheap since its just a “Seiko” to most people but I was way wrong. In regards to timekeeping, having a mechanical watch that keeps time to +/- 5 seconds or so a day is astounding and a great achievement.

  22. foxgloves321 says:

    @japanwatchconnection

    Who in the world cares about accuracy? If we wanted accuracy, we’d get a 10 dollar quartz. My point is that no sane person buys a seiko for rolex money when the seiko has a resale value that equals a carton of stale milk.

  23. japanwatchconnection says:

    @foxgloves321:

    Educate yourself first before spewing garbage:

    Google: “Seiko Morioka”

  24. japanwatchconnection says:

    @foxgloves321

    Definitely you are taking straight from your anus. Who in their right mind would pay $10K for an ugly Rolex that looks like a $50 watch from canal street?

  25. Wolvesq says:

    I wish these Hi Beats were a tad thinner, but otherwise these are great watches.

  26. foxgloves321 says:

    Let’s be serious, noone pays more than $1000 for workmanship and parts of a watch, everything after that is design and brand recognition, or as marketing tells me, “wow-factor”
    Where in jimminy cricket’s anus is the wow-factor of an ugly seiko?

  27. foxgloves321 says:

    *Pays thousands of dollars for $100 seiko automatic*

  28. aBlogtoRead says:

    @japanwatchconnection Thanks for the thoughts. The video review is just part of it. I will cover more in the written review of the watch that will come soon on aBlogtoRead. I will be sure to cover these points.

  29. japanwatchconnection says:

    Finally, you did not mention the accuracy of the 9S85 Hi-beat: -5/+3 seconds a day, adjusted in 6 positions plus temperature. The “Grand Seiko” standard is much more strict than Swiss COSC chronometer standards for mechanical watches.

  30. japanwatchconnection says:

    Also….

    The 9S85 Hi-beat models are “Mastershop” models and they sell for about the same or more than certain Spring Drive models like the SBGE001 GMT spring drive that I happen to own.

    This watch is among the most expensive GS purely mechanical at 577,500 YEN or $7,200 USD retail.

    The sapphire crystal is dual curved with AR coating. The watch has a 40mm case by 12mm thick. Each bracelet link is made up of 5 separate pieces and they are held by 1.5mm screws at each end of the link.

  31. japanwatchconnection says:

    Some observations about your review:

    The 9S85 movement has 55 hours power reserve, not 72 hours. Aside from the Spring Drives, only the standard GS 9S mechanicals have 72 hours power reserve thanks to the Spron 610 mainspring material that is borrowed directly from Spring Drive movements.

    It is 36,000 “Vibrations” not “beats” per hour.

    Grand Seiko has been around since 1960 and 2010 marked the 50th anniversary of the brand.

  32. aBlogtoRead says:

    @tkdkadir I mention it in the video toward the end. About $7,000 if I recall.

  33. tkdkadir says:

    price?

  34. cmeisenzahl says:

    Nice, I love those!!

  35. paskaldjay says:

    I agree, Grand Seiko is the highest product of watch craftsmanship. The true product that gives a ‘Performance’ (Beyond the Chrono Strd) not just a manufacturing process that labeled by such silly certificate aka Seal
    Cheers

  36. therealJQB321 says:

    This is what we can call high-end. This watch just looks good, everything is working properly in this watch.

  37. chrono1g says:

    Grand Seiko’s are absolutely incredible. I bought one when i was in Tokyo last year. It is 100% on par with, if not superior to the high-end swiss brands. my rolex gmt has not seen any wrist time since i got the GS.

  38. UweFinken12 says:

    Super high-end watch that is hugely underestimated …

    The movement is amazing and this watch is a serious competitor for any omega or tag heuer on the market. Any watchcollector who held a GS in the hands only gave great reputations.
