Q&A: Timex watch I used my Timex watch in the pool?
Question–: I used my Timex watch in the pool?
My timex watch is digital and 50 meters water resistant however it bacame blured and blank after i used it under the pool. Is it safe to use a hair dryer to fix it?

Lay it face down on the palm of your hand the condensation hopefully will disperse back into the watch. The watch is waterproof when you buy it but the seals deteriorate over time. If you haven’ t had it for to long but it’s out of warranty write to Timex complaining in a nice way and see what they do.

If the watch is blurred that’s an indication it had water seep into it. Pool water, with it’s chlorine, is especially bad for things like watches. It causes corrosion like crazy. The watch would be unrepairable. Most watches that are considered water resistant (none claim to be water proof anymore) need to be serviced once a year to maintain the warranty. If you still have the papers that came with your watch you should see what it says about that. Your only possibility is to send it to Timex and ask that it be repaired. Most of the time repairs are made for a relatively reasonable flat rate. Basically, they just put in a new works. If it’s a fairly cheap watch and not under a flat rate repair it’s probably not be worth fixing.

take a small screwdriver like the one you use to tighten the screw hinges on glasses with, and pop it open, there is a small slot for it

Hard to say w/o seeing. Most just pop off, but you need a tiny flat head screw driver. There should be a little lip to pry on.

should be slot for small screw driver to pop it off or there is 2 slots where its screws off–need something like needle nose pliers or take to store they do it for free

There are small slots on the watchside of the back cover. Insert a small flat-blade screw driver and twist your wrist…it should pop open. There you will see the works and the battery should be easy to remove and replace.

Many watches require a special tool to open the back so I don’t, I just go to Batteries Unlimited and they supply the battery and install it.
Walmart and Target can do it also.

The back will pop off with a small screw driver or pocket knife. Just be careful not to make yourself bleed.
