Q&A–: I have to do extra credit for school on the movie Phantome of the Opera and i dont have the movie to watch?
soo i would like some help with these questions indetail please
1.) In the movie’s opening scene, we are introduced to an elderly wheel-chair bound man, and a woman who seems to recognize him at the auction he attends. Who are these two people?
2.) When we are first introduced to La Carlotta (played by Minnie Driver), she and the rest of the company of the Opera Populaire are rehearsing for an upcoming production called what?
3.) Who was the historic person on whom the production from the previous question was based? Why does history remember his name? Tell me a bit about him…
4.) This opera house is an important part of the local social scene, as depicted in the film. In fact, such buildings still exist throughout Paris, and all large cities in western Europe. Using the Internet, find the names of three popular opera houses/theaters in existence in Paris today.
(a) List the names of the three.
(b) What productions are currently showing at each, and how much are tickets?
5.) Once we are introduced to the Phantom’s Lair, we see that he has constructed an elaborate world in the caverns and hollows of the Parisian underground. Are there, in fact, catacombs like this in reality underneath the city of Paris? If so, tell me a bit about them.
6.) Another famous European city- Rome, Italy, is known for its catacombs. These underground passages have played a remarkable role in this great city’s past. Tell me what you’ve learned about the catacombs of Rome, and their mysterious history.
7.) The Phantom has competition in town; Raoul. Christine is drawn to both men, but for different reasons. Explain to me as best you can, what she finds appealing in both.
8.) We see at the film’s opening, that it takes place in the 1880s. Was Paris’ most famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower, in existence yet? Also, tell me why it was built and how Parisians initially responded to it.
9.) We meet the Opera Populaire’s new owners, who we find out have become incredibly wealthy. What business have they made all their money in, and why might that particular business have been so profitable at that time and place in history?
10.) Finally, Christine seems to make her decision between the two men in her life. There is a touching scene toward the end of the film where she gives the phantom a ring. Does this scene represent her rejection of his affections or does it symbolize a commitment of sorts? Explain using evidence from the film.

1. Raoul is the man in the wheelchair and Meg Giry is the woman.
2.
7. Raoul is a safe haven, and a childhood sweetheart. The phantom opens her sexuality. But he is dangerous.
9.They had a “scrap metal” business.
10. It represents both. She couldn’t stay with him, but she obviously shows commitment after all of the months of voice lessons he gave her.

Question–: why do people think that foreign cars are so mush better?
I say this because many people state that foreign cars are better and say that many American car companies send jobs out. I know for a fact that most American car companies would like to bring jobs back. Chrysler had joined up with fiat(a European car company) and they are trying to bring all production back in the states and that they are going to try to get other companies to send there cars state side to get them built. It may sound like crap that more foreign cars are built here and that the money goes back to the other countries but it is true. Watch pretty soon if people still keep buying foreign they are going to drive many American companies out of business. When this happens the foreign companies are probably going to jack up the prices and take jobs back away and also going to lose a lot of the so called “good quality”. So if you keep on buying foreign stuff not just cars we may be looking at a big economic crisis in America because many americans will lose there jobs many will probably turn to the government for the reason they screwed up, when really it was all of the american people that did it. Yes the government could take some blame but i really dont think that it would be all on them. If you we’re to stop buying foreign cars you might be able to actually help out yourself and also BRING JOBS BACK TO AMERICA!!! also the cars would be in a better condition because they will not have to cut jobs in inspection and also other jobs that will cut out quality. I think that if you are looking for a cheap car go buy a used on or dont get a cheap one. I have yet to see any major screw-ups in american made products but i have in foreign products(hint hint gas pedal sticking(really you want to buy a car from a car company that has made that big of a mistake?)! But if you can answer my question that will be great help?

Well, I currently drive a 1997 Honda Civic LX with 323,000 miles on it… I bought the car in 2005 for ,400, but i have maybe only put in like ,000 into it since i got it (Including oil changes and tune-ups.) Its a very reliable car, and it’s still running strong. If that is not enough proof, then i dont know what is.

Camry is an American car…look at all those “foreign” car companies in the top 10. Where is Chrysler? Did they go on vacation to Canada?

this sounds like more of a rant then anything else, and first off americas biggest mistake was using bailout money to research the zr1 and other frivolous things instead of improving the current lineup and improving quality that they can make more money on and use the bailout more effectively
personally id buy american cars if they actually were reliable and didnt fall apart after 60,000 miles
i think ford is doing a great job with the fusion and they have pretty good reliability ratings, and chrysler is still pathetic at the moment
ill take my chances with a car that had maybe 100 claimed and not proven instances of the gas pedal sticking, out of millions of cars
and also the ford 5.4 triton motor is a joke and so is the 4.6 in the crown vics that blew plugs out of the head consistantly, thats a big screw up and a pretty big flaw to me
and if the unions didnt make the workers lazy at american assembly plants through job security, they might have better quality
almost everything is imported now and barely anything is made in the us anymore, if american companies want my business, they better get higher quality

Most “foreign” car companies make their cars in the us. At least the ones that sell heavy in the USA. If the American car companies can start making a better car, the can compete. Ford and chev are starting to do better, but we won’t know for a few years.

Hi there.
You wrote – ”why do people think that foreign cars are so mush better?”
First ,. the word is MUCH ,. not mush.
Secondly , European cars ARE much better than US made cars.
The majority of EU made cars use less fuel , make more power are safer and drive better.
——–
”Chrysler had joined up with fiat”
No they did not.
Chrysler , due to years of making low quality products , faced bankruptcy.
FIAT , which is one of Europe’s biggest car manufacturers bought the majority of shares in Chrysler so as to gain US market share.
When you say that ‘Chrysler had joined up with fiat’ ,. you make it sound like a 50-50 deal, the fact is that Chrysler had to beg FIAT to buy them , and no one else wanted them.
——–
”–because many americans will lose there jobs”
If Americans made good products their industry and their jobs would be safe.
The fact is that most US made products are several years behind the rest of the world , and it is only through ignorance of the US consumer that they can sell anything at all.
——–
”Yes the government could take some blame but i really dont think that it would be all on them.”
The consumer is to blame for not demanding a quality product.
If manufacturers can make low standard products and sell them , then there is no reason for them to advance their product line.
——–
”BRING JOBS BACK TO AMERICA!!!”
MAKE GOOD STUFF THEN.
——–
”I have yet to see any major screw-ups in american made products”
REALLY ?
Ford Pinto – gas tank recall – explosion risk = 27 dead.
Pontiac Grand Prix – Recall engine bay fires = 230 cars burnt.
US built Ford Focus – wheels falling off – known as ‘glitch ridden’ = numerous recalls.
US and Canadian built Corollas and Matrixes – windows fall out , and engines don’t start due to computer failures = numerous recalls.
US Toyota Matrix + Pontiac Vibe accelerator pedal replacement recall.
Chevrolet cobalt – all recalled under government order – unsafe interior , head injuries.
Chevrolet Cobalt – power steering problems – recalled.
Ford Windstars – recalled , rear axle failures.
Ford Escape – recalled 10 times.- engine fires and ABS failures.
Ford F series 2007 – recalled , failure of brake master cylinder + engine fires.
Between 2005 and 2007 Ford US had recalled 5.8 million vehicles.
All 1.5 million vehicles with GM built Series II 3.8l engine – ALL recalled due to oil leaks starting fires.
Pontiac Fiero – engine bay fires – all recalled.
—-and on and on and on.
The ignorance of the US consumer allows the seeds of misinformation to take root.
